Introduction

Our boarding houses are sponsored by Po Lin Monastery. Boarders will have the opportunity to developing their own independence and confidence in preparation for life beyond school.

Our school provides boarding services with separate dormitories for boys and girls. Our aim is to minimize the time restrictions imposed by travelling to and from school each day. Under the guidance of our warden, our students have the opportunity to gain valuable life skills, while getting back to nature. For students coming from beyond Lantau Island, the Boarding House is their home away from home.

Warden’s Welcome Speech

Boarding life affords a natural, real-life setting where children can learn acceptance, respect and to appreciate differences.

Whilst we endeavour to instill in your child a higher level of English proficiency outside of a traditional class room environment, we ask that parents and guardians actively participate in their child’s development by providing an environment that encourages the reading of English books, interaction with native English speakers, and viewing of English programmes etc.

Boarding schools in the UK and elsewhere are usually academically selective in nature.  We have not set this criteria at Fat Wah Yuen. However, this does not mean that the learning environment is not dynamic. It is, in so far as the boarder will get out it what he puts into it, much like life, in short.

One of the benefits students learn after a pre-determined period is the development of valuable social skills through interaction and mutual reliance.  They might also gain a better appreciation of the responsibilities associated with independence.
